Various
This week was not a regular series lesson. It was a student Q&A night: students submitted questions in advance, and our leaders, Liam, Nick, and Aaron, worked through as many as they could as a team.
Passages: various, spanning Genesis to Revelation
Nine student questions got a full answer this round, spread across three broad categories.
A cluster of questions dug into things Scripture only partly explains. Students asked about Noah's Ark, including some of the physical evidence people point to at Mount Ararat, and about Enoch, the rare Old Testament figure who never experienced death. Others asked what Satan actually looks like, and whether time moved differently in the earliest days of Genesis, which opened into why the patriarchs lived so long. In each case, the approach was the same: state clearly what Scripture does and does not say, then separate that from speculation, while still pointing to the bigger spiritual takeaway behind the question.
Other questions were more practical. Students asked about video games and where to draw the line on content, about how to grow in patience through hard seasons, and about how to handle friendships with people who don't share their faith. These answers leaned on the same core idea: Scripture doesn't always name the specific situation, but it gives clear principles, like weighing whether something is helpful and not just permissible, for working out the answer.
The last group centered on who students are and what they're here to do. One question dealt with insecurity and finding identity in Christ rather than in comparison or performance. Another asked about the responsibility to share the gospel with others. Both pointed back to the same foundation: security and purpose come from a relationship with Jesus, not from anything students accomplish on their own.
A handful of submitted questions, on the kings in Genesis 14, the number of archangels, filing lawsuits, love, and the Law, didn't get answered this round. Worth checking back in on those in a future Q&A.
Since this was a Q&A night rather than a single lesson, here are a few openers pulled from tonight's topics to get a conversation going:
