Glory in the Setbacks: When God Turns You Back to Move You Forward | Exodus 14:1-25 | Nick Johnson

This sermon explores how God sometimes leads His people into unexpected setbacks; moments that feel like going backwards, in order to reveal His glory and strengthen their faith. Drawing from Exodus 14, we see Israel trapped at the Red Sea not by accident, but by divine design, as God positions them where only His power can save. In their fear, God moves the pillar of fire behind them, stands between them and destruction, and displays His glory by breaking the wheels of Egypt’s chariots. The same glory that fought for Israel now strengthens believers from within, as Paul prays in Ephesians 3:14–16. Through personal testimony and Scripture, the message calls us to trust God’s hand in our pain, knowing His glory was at work then, is at work now, and will be revealed fully in the days to come.
