Romans 13:1

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Romans 13:2

Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

“Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.”

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Romans 1:28

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting…

When truth is rejected, the mind becomes defected.

Romans 13:3

Romans 13:4

For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Rightly ordered restraint is not oppression—it is protection.

Romans 13:5

Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.

A conscience shaped by Scripture sees rightly ordered authority as mercy—not tyranny.
