This sermon continues through the Beatitudes by examining Jesus’ words, “Blessed are the meek” and “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” Using the image of a trained warhorse, it shows that biblical meekness is not weakness, but strength held under the control of God’s Spirit. The sermon then connects that controlled strength to a deep hunger for righteousness — both the longing to be made right with God and the longing to see the world made right under Christ. Ultimately, Jesus promises that this hunger will be satisfied in Him, as He fills His people with His righteousness now and will one day renew the whole earth in righteousness. 1. The sermon describes meekness not as weakness but as "power under control" — like a warhorse trained to hold steady under fire. Where in your own life do you find it hardest to hold back and wait on God rather than seizing control yourself?

2. Jesus says the meek "do not grab what God has promised to give, but trust Him to give it in His time." Is there a situation in your life right now where you're tempted to force an outcome rather than wait on God? What makes that kind of trust difficult?

3. The message draws a tight connection between hungering to be made righteous and hungering to see righteousness done in the world. How have you experienced that connection personally — does your desire to grow closer to God fuel a deeper concern for justice and the people around you?

4. The sermon offers three questions to test whether anger is righteous or sinful: What set it off? Where is it driving? And is it under control? Think of a recent moment when you felt strong anger — how does it hold up against those three questions?

5. The promise Jesus gives is "they shall be filled" — not might be, but shall be. How does the certainty of that promise change the way you carry your longings, your frustrations, and your hunger for things to be made right?
