Integrity Stands & Perversity Slips is a timely call to walk uprightly in a world bent on corruption. Preaching from Psalm 26, Pastor Matthew Maher unpacks David’s bold appeal for God to examine his heart and vindicate his walk. This message draws a clear contrast between the faithful who walk in truth and the wicked who walk in schemes. While others scheme, bribe, and deceive—the one who walks in integrity stands on solid ground. In a culture full of compromise, this sermon urges believers to pursue spiritual stability, moral clarity, and wholehearted devotion to the God who sees the heart and rewards the righteous. Sermon Notes

Psalm 26:1-2

Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip. Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.

He who defends himself has himself as a defender.

Psalm 26:3-5

For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth. I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, nor will I go in with hypocrites. I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.

Insulation, not isolation, is the way of sanctification.

Psalm 26:6-8

I will wash my hands in innocence; so I will go about Your altar, O Lord, that I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous works. Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells.

Come correct or correction will come.

Psalm 26:9-10

Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men, In whose hands is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes.

In the end, God will separate the faithful from the false.

Psalm 26:11

But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; Redeem me and be merciful to me.

You do not need to worry about outcomes when you trust the Lord for all that comes out.

Psalm 26:12

My foot stands in an even place; in the congregations I will bless the Lord.

Spiritual stability doesn’t come from willpower, but from standing in God’s will and power.
