- Faithfulness or Fame — Revelation 3:8; 1 Corinthians 4:2Philadelphia was small but faithful. Why does God value faithfulness more than visible impressiveness or influence? What are some practical ways we can measure faithfulness instead of popularity, size, or success?
- Open Doors or Forced Doors — Revelation 3:7–8; Acts 16:6–10Christ opens doors that no one can shut — and shuts doors no one can open. How can we discern the difference between a door God opens and a door we are trying to force open ourselves? Share a time when God opened a door for you that you knew only He could have opened.
- Strength in Weakness — 2 Corinthians 12:9; Revelation 3:8Philadelphia had “little strength,” yet was highly used by God. How can “little strength” actually become the perfect condition for God to work powerfully through us? What keeps us from embracing weakness as the place where God displays His strength?
- Hold Fast or Let Go — Revelation 3:11; Hebrews 10:23Christ commands: “Hold fast what you have.” What pressures today tempt believers or churches to loosen their grip on Scripture or compromise Christ’s Name? What is one practical way you can intentionally “tighten your grit” this week?
- Vindication or Validation — Revelation 3:9; Luke 12:8Christ promises to vindicate His faithful in His time. How does the promise of future vindication free us from the need to prove ourselves right or win every argument right now? In what ways does trusting Christ’s approval over the world’s approval change the way we live and respond to opposition?
- Bonus: Overcomers or Onlookers — Revelation 3:12; Revelation 2–3 (all letters)In every one of the seven letters, Jesus ends with a promise “to him who overcomes.” What have we learned so far about what it actually means to be an overcomer? How does the promise given to Philadelphia—being made a pillar in God’s temple and marked with His Name—shape our identity and hope today?

Sermon Notes
Revelation 3:7
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens…”
The church doesn’t advance by the accommodation of man but by the ordination of God.
Revelation 3:8
I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
God is not looking for great people — but faithful people who live to prove He is great.
To deal loosely with the Word of Christ is to eventually deny the Name of Christ.
Revelation 3:9
Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
The True Evangelical Church doesn’t need to prove itself right—it only needs to live in the righteousness that proves it.
Revelation 3:10
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
Revelation 3:11
Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.”
When the world tells you to loosen your grip, the Word teaches you to tighten your grit.
Revelation 3:12
He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
Revelation 3:13
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
When others fall away, the faithful trust the Way.
